Registered Psychotherapist

*Not currently accepting psychotherapy clients

Elisa Makadi is a Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor working with youth and adult individuals. Elisa obtained a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa, with thesis research focused on self-compassion and mindfulness for those experiencing social anxiety disorder. Elisa has a particular interest in working with queer teens and adults.

Elisa describes therapy work as helping people learn what the heck their brain is doing and finding ways to hold their “stuff” differently. Past clients have commented on Elisa’s authenticity and humour, and how these traits help them feel safe enough to do deep work.

You can expect therapy with Elisa to be gentle and at your own pace. Elisa particularly enjoys long-term therapy work focused on fostering a harmonious relationship with yourself. We will discuss your early life experiences, the parts of you that make you who you are, and ways of relating to yourself in more helpful, kind ways.

Human First, Therapist Second

When I’m not at work, you can find me reading a book of varying genres – from fantasy to short story collections to memoirs to sci fi. I also like listening to silly podcasts like Las Culturistas and Handsome, and infusing my meals with as much tofu as possible. Going for a walk in the woods is my favourite form of self-care.

I attend my own therapy regularly, without which I may cease to function. I have two old-man cats who like to cuddle and are furiously food-driven. I’m probably too excited about stickers, miniature items, and inanimate objects with faces. I have strong opinions about socks and noise-cancelling headphones. I am exploring my own neurodivergence and how it impacts my view of the world.
