Meet elisa
Elisa Makadi, MA, RP
-
Elisa Makadi is a Registered Psychotherapist working with youth and adult individuals, and the owner of Levity Counselling Services. She obtained her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa, where she focused her research on self-compassion and mindfulness for those experiencing social anxiety disorder.
Elisa describes her work as helping people learn what the heck their brain is doing and finding ways to hold their “stuff” differently. Past clients have commented on her authenticity and humour, and how these traits help them feel safe enough to do deep work.
You can expect therapy with Elisa to be gentle and at your own pace. She particularly enjoys long-term therapy work focused on fostering a harmonious relationship with yourself. We will discuss your early life experiences, the parts of you that make you who you are, and ways of relating to yourself in more helpful, kind ways. - A few facts about Elisa: 1) When not at work, you can probably find Elisa at home with her two cats, Nate and Charlie; 2) She values comfort and ease, dressing casually most days (hence the jeans and gnome clogs in her headshot photo); 3) She has many tattoos and plans to continue collecting. Her favourite is a tiny house tattooed on her inner arm, representing homebodies everywhere.

key points
Working with Elisa
Here are some things to know about working with Elisa:
- Elisa works in an depth-oriented, unstructured way; this means Elisa will rarely give you a worksheet or formal homework to do. We process emotions and discuss situations in the therapy room, and you are encouraged to reflect between sessions.
- Elisa most often uses Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and self-compassion in her work.
- Elisa works well with perfectionists, people-pleasers, and those with anxiety related to relationships.
- As a clinical supervisor, Elisa encourages self-reflection and a focus on the process over the content. She has a soft spot for working with qualifying psychotherapists.
- Elisa’s session rate is $185.
