Jess Morrow is a Registered Psychotherapist working with teens and adults. She obtained her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and previously worked in the social work field in shelters for women and children fleeing domestic violence, hospitals, and non-profit organizations.
Jess works to help individuals increase their self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-trust, for a deeper understanding of themselves, their strengths, and resiliency. Past clients have commented on her warmth, insight, and empathy, and how these qualities helped enhance their introspection of their feelings, experiences, and patterns in a safe and supportive environment. Therapy can be empowering, challenging, informative, fun, and emotional – sometimes all in one session.
Jess supports her clients while figuring out with them what works best for them and takes into account their personality, interests, therapy goals, and learning style to create personalized coping strategies and to assess with the client whether they may benefit from a slightly more structured approach or if they prefer less structure and more conversational; sometimes the preference may even shift session-to-session depending on the need or want that day.
Jess provides psychoeducation (which is therapy speak for information) to help individuals to understand why their brains and bodies may be responding the way they are to help normalize and deepen their understanding of themselves. Psychoeducation is part of the conversational aspect and is individualized to you, so it will not feel like you’re in a stuffy lecture hall, but rather on a nice comfy couch with warm lighting and a cup of tea talking it through.
